Dump Truck Insurance Provided By Our Agency

A dump truck, known also as a dumper truck or tipper truck, is used for taking dumps (such as sand, gravel, or demolition waste) for construction as well as coal. A typical dump truck is equipped with an open-box bed, which is hinged at the rear and equipped with hydraulic rams to lift the front, allowing the material in the bed to be deposited on the ground behind the truck at the site of delivery.

What is Dump Truck Insurance?

Dump Truck Insurance is specialty insurance that covers trucking companies using dump trucks to transport dirt, sand, gravel, rock, asphalt and other loose materials used in construction, road work, quarries, fracking, mining, etc. In contrast to other commercial vehicles, dump trucks are typically constructed for use either off-road or on construction sites. As a result, dump trucks are often built to withstand or avoid collisions and overturns. Dump trucks are more often involved in backup accidents and overturn than other commercial trucks because of their use in construction sites and road work zones.

What does Dump Truck insurance cover?

  • Non-Trucking Insurance

Provides liability coverage if you are involved in an accident while driving your truck during off-work hours. Non-trucking coverage is designed for independent owners/operators with contract jobs.

  • Motor Truck General Liability Insurance

This type of coverage protects you from liability and comes into effect if you cause damage to your customer’s property while operating your dump truck on their grounds.

  • Physical Damage Insurance

Physical damage insurance covers any damage to your dump truck and is usually required by dealerships if you are leasing your vehicle.

  • Collision Insurance

This will cover the repair of damage to your dump truck if you collide with another vehicle or object.

  • Fire and Theft Insurance:

This comprehensive insurance provides compensation for damages to your vehicle caused by fire or theft.

  • Motor Truck Cargo Insurance

Motor truck cargo insurance covers the cargo you haul on your truck and is sometimes required if the cargo you haul is valuable.

  • Rental Reimbursement / Downtime Insurance

If your truck is damaged in an accident, this coverage will allow you to continue your business operations while your truck is being repaired. It also covers losses if continuation is not possible.

  • Off-Season Comprehensive Only Insurance

Protect your vehicle while it’s not in use if your business is seasonal.

The Information You Need To Obtain A Quote

Accidents involving dump trucks always result in greater damage. In order to receive an accurate quote to protect your business from potential losses, your agent will ask you several questions about your operations. Because it's insurance coverage for a commercial vehicle, often more in-depth information is required, such as:

  •  What type of truck(s) do you drive?
  •  Are you a motor carrier, owner/operator, or for-hire operator?
  •  What type(s) of truck cargo do you haul?
  •  What have you budgeted for dump truck insurance?

An agent will likely require more information to obtain a commercial insurance quote, (such as your driving history, license information, etc.) so be as prepared as possible.

Why do you need Dump Truck Insurance?

Dump trucks are more often involved in backup accidents and overturn than other commercial trucks because of their use in construction sites and road work zones. Therefore, it’s crucial to maintain adequate liability limits and physical damage coverage in either of these incidents.
